Greenacres, considered as one of the inner suburbs of Greater Adelaide is located approximately 9km north east of the Adelaide CBD. As is common in the area, most of the original Greenacres homes were built in the 1950’s being of double brick or cement sheet construction.
The combination of flat land, proximity to the city, and convenience of the huge Greenacres shopping centre has driven popularity for new home builders and developers in this area. This has resulted in a suburb undergoing rapid change, with new homes sprouting up all over the place.
The Port Adelaide Enfield Council library is located opposite the shopping centre and the suburb also features Hampstead Barracks, a small suburban Australian Army base.
